American Tragedy was formed in 1998, based in San Diego, CA. After building our first line up we went to play our first show in October of '98. We soon after went to the studio and recorded our first demo. We continued to play shows in town and record songs when we could. Then in 2000 we put out our first split cd with our friends The Cause. This limited split CD "The Heraclitus Theory" was released on Tear It Down and Congruency Records. Following up this release, American Tragedy went right back in the studio and recorded a two song, self titled 7" released in 2001 on Tear It Down and Congruency Records. With the release of this record kids started to catch on quickly, and as a result our west coast shows have grown from a gathering of close friends to a solid group of dedicated fans. March of this year we got a new singer and put out a four-song EP and then toured with our friends With All Sincerity from San Antonio, Texas. American Tragedy have shared the stage with such acts as Converge, The Hope Conspiracy, Poison The Well, Over My Dead Body, Buried Alive, Ensign, Countervail, Carry On, Martyr A.D., Darkest Hour and more…
